On the left, a man, tying his shoe laces prepares to fence whilst a man standing in the centre of the background observes the players through spectacles. Mr Angelo, who founded and ran the fencing academy, stands fourth from the right holding fencing épée's. A portrait hanging on the wall is entitles 'St George.' Inscribed in the plate: "Rowlandson 1791" / "Design'd & Etch'd by T Rowlandson" / "Aquatinted by Rosenberg"
